EA hates good publicity

* sigh * Oh
Electronic Arts, what am I doing with you ...

EA Germany has proved in the history of the PSP the other day that sit some really competent people, which really is about how video games are seen in public. The U.S. headquarters of the mega-publisher on the other hand shoots himself with their latest viral campaign from the top things off:

In Your Mom hates Dead Space 2 presents a voice off several middle-aged women selected scenes from the horror sequel and filming their reactions here.
Here is one of the videos:

And behind the scenes video (which contains quite a lot of gameplay footage):

First I had to smile at the concept itself. I myself have fun people who understand nothing of video games they like to tell. But for 'a minute, I realized that this is a rather pathetic ploy on the part of EAs.
  • The game has an "M fore Mature" rating, ie from 17 when I'm not mistaken. Is now with me a bit ago, but one would think the opinion of the mother on the content of a video game at this point is not so crucial. This raises the question if EA wants to accomplish with this advertisement: 18 or 12 years? : P
  • be shown, as far as I can tell, only short excerpts, and only commented by saying "this is a new video game". Completely out of context, without doubt, to get the strongest possible response. But the methods are the games I would otherwise inhabited by opponents. Would the day-Journal Dead Space 2 on report, EA would have them already cut together the violent, disconnected scenes of violence.
  • It's like the lack of a better word, puberty. Yes, Dead Space is brutal. It's about monsters that you can only defeat in the one it shoots into small manageable pieces. But this is by far not the greatest strength of the game. Rather it is the threatening atmosphere and cinematic production. The predecessor was really good and I have high hopes for the second part. But I would not play because my mother would hate it.
  • Dead Space is, at least in my opinion, a game that you can take seriously. I have nothing against the exaggerated presentation of violence for purposes of fun and look forward to riesßig Bullet Storm , but in this game I can not understand easily.
The advertising campaign for Dante's Inferno last year was also ... different, but at least good for something creative and the odd laugh. Here I can just shake his head. If one of the world's largest publisher of opinion is to have to present his play on such a cheap way, then it is no wonder that the medium is not taken seriously.

When I was
